How To

How to play football

You need to be able to play soccer well. These skills should always be improved. The most important thing to do is practice them everyday. These steps will teach you how to properly play soccer.

  1. Practice dribbling. Dribble around the field until you get comfortable with it. Start practicing dribbling slowly, ideally for 5 minutes each. Once you feel comfortable with dribbling, increase the duration to 10 minutes. Continue practicing this technique every day.
  2. Practice passing. Practice passing the balls in front of and behind your eyes. You must pass the ball correctly to the person with the space. Keep your passes short. It's better if you throw the ball directly to the player who needs it. This will save you energy and keep you warm.
  3. Practice heading. Heading is the ability to position the ball precisely in the net. Before you can achieve this goal, it is important to practice getting in the right position. Standing directly in front of the target, face the goal. Next, bend forward slightly to place the ball under your nose. Next, raise your head up and look towards the top left corner of the net. Your eyes should be directed straight ahead. Stand up straight and let the ball go.
  4. Practice tackling. Tackling is one of the hardest techniques to master. When you get it down, however, it can make football much more entertaining. Begin by covering your chest and shoulders with your hands. Don't try to go lower. Remember to keep your arms straight and your legs together. Tackling is best done in small groups of 2 players. One player serves as the defender, while the other acts as an attacker. As soon as the attacker gets past the defender, they must immediately tackle him.
  5. Shooting is something you should practice. It takes a lot of practice to shoot well. First, find a spot where you can comfortably shoot from (i.e. near the goal). Focus on your form. You can hold the ball between your fingers, but keep it away from your body. Point your toes towards the sky by bending your knees. Shoot the ball by making a circular movement with your wrist. You want to hit the bottom right corner.
  6. Practice running. Running takes time to master. Start off slowly and gradually build up speed. You should not use running as a way to attack because it can tire your muscles. Instead, you should run to help your fellow runners.
  7. Practice kicking. Kicking is one the most difficult skills, but also the easiest. In order to kick accurately, you need to develop strength in your legs and core. Stand with your feet together, and lift one leg at time. Slowly kick it towards the net using your heels.
  8. Do it again. This skill is vital to your success as a player. Dribbling is a way to control the pace and play the game. Without it, the opposing team would have no trouble catching up to you or even overtaking you. Consistency is the key to mastering dribbling. Do not alter your style of dribbling each day. Stick with what works for your body.
  9. Practice free kicks. Free kicks are usually delivered after a foul or when the goalkeeper commits a mistake. Free kicks are a way to score goals and not have to play the match. Always aim for the corners of your goal. Remember to always use your instep and not your heel.
  10. Practice defending. It is all about position. Keep your distance from the opponent's player when playing defense. Block his path so that he doesn't score. Always watch out for your teammate's safety.
