You've probably heard of "sucking in a goal," but what does that mean? It refers to a strategy that fans cheer for their favorite teams to score. Each team has 25 members. The team will be made up of starters and replacements.

OFFSIDE

Soccer's most important aspect is the rule of offside. It prevents your opponents from scoring an easy win. A player can be called offside if he crosses the opponent's goal line, or gets involved in active play in his opponents' half. While it sounds complicated, it's actually quite simple when you consider it.

YELLOW BARD

A yellow card is a warning in soccer that you did something unacceptable. Usually, this refers to a foul or a caution. A yellow card can also mean a ban from a game. FIFA approved yellow cards at the 1970 World Cup. They've been used worldwide ever since.

OUTSWINGER

Outswingers are corner kicks made by a fullback. They are used for delivering the ball to dangerous central areas. Wolves are one team to use this type of corner. Wolves are well-known for their attacking style. They tend to attack on the right side. Their chances of scoring an outswinger are increased because almost all their corners have been taken by right-footed people.

SET PIECE

A set piece refers to the situation where both teams can create a chance on goal. It can happen in many different ways such as penalty kicks or free kicks. Set pieces are often when the ball is not in play. This gives the attacking team a greater chance of scoring.

QUARTER

A QUARTER, in soccer lingo, is a 15-minute segment in the middle or a soccer game. This format is used in youth soccer games as the players do not have the stamina to play the full 45 minutes. US Youth Soccer recommends that children under 8 years old should play for four quarters each of 12 and six minutes respectively. The reason is that the players are too young for the game's pace and the rules should reflect this. Professional soccer games are typically played in two halves with 45-minute breaks in between.
